CAWA Representatives Were Invited to Attend Merdeka Ekspor 2021 Held by Indonesi

On August 14, 2021, the Merdeka Ekspor 2021 initiated by Indonesian President Joko Widodo and hosted by the Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture was successfully held both online and offline. The Presidential Office of Indonesia, the Ministry of Agriculture, officials and representatives from 17 provinces and cities, ambassadors from major Indonesian embassies abroad and representatives of importers participated in the event. Mr. Ma Zengjun, Chairman of China Agricultural Wholesale Market Association (hereinafter referred as “CAWA”), was invited by H.E. Mr. Djauhari Oratmangun, the Indonesian Ambassador to China, to attend the event and give a speech.

Indonesian President Joko Widodo attended the presidential palace and pointed out in his speech that the purpose of this event was to show participants the simultaneous delivery ceremony of 17 export ports in Indonesia at the circumstance of the 76th anniversary of Indonesia’s National Day. Hesaid that during the Covid-19 pandemic, the Indonesian agricultural sector withstood the test; meanwhile, he also encouraged all Indonesian farmers, plantation, animal husbandry and other related departments to jointly promotethe nationalization, modernization and digitalization of agricultural exports. Representatives of 6 governors from Indonesia’s South Sumatra Province, Jambi Province, Central Java Province, Riau Island Province, South Sulawesi Province,and North Sulawesi Province, gave speeches, and Indonesian ambassador to China, Indonesian ambassador to Russia, Indonesian ambassador to the United States, and Indonesian ambassador to Belgium, four Indonesian envoys abroad gavespeeches.

In his speech, Indonesian Ambassador to China Mr. Djauhari Oratmangun expressed the hope that this event will promote the development of agricultural trade between Indonesia and China and strengthen bilateral economic cooperation. CAWA led by Mr. Ma Zengjun, has played an important role in promoting bilateral agricultural trade between China and Indonesia. H.E. Mr. Djauhari Oratmangun also invited Mr. Ma to speak as the representative of the importer.Mr. Ma said that CAWA has maintained friendly and close ties with the Indonesian Embassy. CAWA promotes the entry of Indonesian agricultural products into the Chinese market in areas such as bird's nest, fruit and aquatic products. The Chinese wholesale market is the main channel for imported agricultural products to enter the domestic market, especially Indonesian bird's nest and fruits. In the future, CAWA will also strengthen exchanges on the export of Indonesian aquatic products. Under the conditions of the pandemic,CAWA advocates promoting the export of Indonesian agricultural products to China through digitalization or wholesale market construction in Indonesia. CAWA is willing to work together with the Indonesian Embassy to achieve the goal of promoting bilateral economic development and benefiting the people of the two countries.

Syahrul Yasin Limpo, Minister of Agriculture of Indonesia, introduced in his speech that the value of this export reached IDR 7.29 trillion, and the export volume reached 627.4 million tons, including 564 million tons of agricultural products. It is hoped that CAWA and Mr. Ma will work together with Indonesia in the future bilateral trade between China and Indonesia to promote the agricultural trade between the two countries to a new level.

After the meeting, Mr. Ma Zengjun and H.E. Mr. Djauhari Oratmangun as well as officials of the Indonesian Embassy’s Commercial Office, reached a consensus that CAWA and the Indonesian Embassy will maintain long-term friendly exchanges and cooperation and support, and CAWA will provide Indonesian fruit, bird’s nest and other products support to gain more recognition and share in the Chinese market, and assisted in solving the problems encountered in the bilateral agricultural trade between China and Indonesia; the Indonesian Embassy in China and CAWA will also maintain communication on bird’s nest standards and promote the increase in the export volume of Indonesian bird's nest has contributed to the healthy and rapid development of bilateral bird's nest trade and agricultural product trade.
