The Second Online Meeting of Feasibility Discussion on the Construction of Whole

On August 5, 2021, at the invitation of the Beijing Representative Office of the Bank Indonesia, China Agriculture Wholesale Market Association (CAWA) and representatives of the Indonesian Embassy in China jointly held the second online discussion on the topic of construction project of wholesale market in Indonesia, and all parties discussed actively on the further implementation of the project.


Mr. Arief Hartawan, Chief Representative of the Beijing Representative Office of the Bank Indonesia, hosted the meeting by inviting representatives of North Sumatra province, Lampung Province, Sei Mangkei Special Economic Zone and other Indonesian personnel. Ms. Marina Novira, Commercial Counselor of the Indonesian Embassy to China, was invited to attend the meeting and delivered a speech; Mr. Ma Zengjun, Chairman of CAWA and Na Shaoping, Vice Chairman attended the online meeting, and other delegates from International Dept of CAWA, Wang Lijuan, Guo Bixi and Liu Jiayu being the observersof the event.

“In the first online meeting held on June 15, we had a preliminary communication and understanding on the investment environment and agricultural products circulation inIndonesia through the in-depth discussion,” said Ma Zengjun, Chairman of CAWA, at the meeting.In order to effectively promote the construction project of Indonesian wholesale market, representatives of Indonesia and China need to clarify the roles and needs of all parties and to facilitate the further implementation of the project on the basis of mutual consensus.”

Ms. Marina, Commercial Counselor of the Indonesian Embassy, reviewed a series of friendly cooperation between the Indonesian Embassy to China and CAWA,as well as the fruitful results achieved over the past few years, such as, CAWA led its members participated in the 2018 Trade Expo Indonesia, signed the bird's nest MoU cooperation agreement at the 2019 Trade Expo Indonesia, successfully held the online B2B meeting for Indonesian Dragon Fruits in 2020, and etc. Marina thanked CAWA for its support in promoting bilateral trade cooperation and achieving mutual benefit and win-win results. She also wished that the Indonesian wholesale market project could meet expectations.

The representatives of North Sumatra province and Industrial Park of Sei Mangkei Special Economic Zone respectively introduced the investment advantages of the province and the industrial park and their geographical, resource, transportation and policy advantages for the construction of wholesale markets.


Mr. Na Shaoping, Vice Chairman of CAWA, introduced the detailed construction process of the wholesale market, including the whole process from completing the necessity and feasibility demonstration, obtaining government support, attracting foreign investment, site selection, infrastructure construction to opening of the wholesale market.

The representatives of the two sides reached an agreement at this meeting. Mr. Hartawan, concluded that after the meeting, he would like to continue maintaining communication with CAWA to sort out practical problems and clarify the roles of all parties in order to facilitate the implementation of the project.

He also thanked CAWA for its support and contribution to promoting China Indonesia bilateral exchanges and cooperation, and highly praised the professional suggestions putforward by CAWA in the wholesale market construction project.


CAWA will also continue to maintain close communication with the Beijing Representative Office of the Bank Indonesia, the Indonesian government officials and Indonesian enterprises on the construction of wholesale markets, contribute to the development of Indonesia's agricultural products circulation industry, and to promote the further cooperation between China and Indonesia in the field of agricultural products circulation industry to a new level.
