On July 13, 2021, in response to the request of the New Zealand Embassy to China, China Agricultural Wholesale MarketAssociation (referred to as "CAWA") organized a visit to Beijing Jingshen Seafood Wholesale Market for the delegation from the New Zealand Embassy to China. Deputy Minister of Primary Industries of New Zealand Embassy to China Mr. Tim Knox, Animal and Plant Quarantine Counsellor Mr. Ivan Veljkovic, Business Counsellor Mr. Andrew White, First Secretary for Animal and Plant Quarantine Affairs Mr. Ron Xavier, First Secretary for primary industries Ms.Ashlin Chand, Second Secretary for Primary Industries Ms. Eileen Nowland-Walker, Business Officer Ms. Liu Jing, Policy Advisor of Agriculture Group Ms. Ning Chunxiang was concluded to the embassy's delegation. Representatives from Jingshen Seafood Wholesale Market including General Manager Ms. Liu Cuimiao, Deputy General Manager Mr. Lin Kunsong, Deputy General Manager Mr. Wu Jiangtao and Office Director Mr. Zhuo Shaoxun received the guests. The Discussion between the Delegation from the New Zealand Embassy, CAWA and Jingshen Seafood Wholesale Market


At the meeting, the New Zealand delegation had an in-depth understanding of the timeliness, customs clearance procedures and logistics speed of China's imported seafood from New Zealand during the COVID-19 epidemic. The representative of the Jingshen Seafood Market introduced to the participants the effective measures taken by the market to ensure the safety of personnel and food in the market during the epidemic, as well as some measures for the market's current transformation and upgrading. Ms. Zhang Juan,Vice Secretary-General of CAWA, introduced to Mr. Tim Knox the development trends of the overall intelligence and standardization of China's agricultural product wholesale market industry, the normalized response measures for epidemic prevention and control, and the important role of wholesale markets inpromoting international trade of agricultural products.


Mr. Tim Knox expressed his gratefulness to CAWA's liaison and Jingshen Seafood Wholesale Market's reception. He indicated that through the visit, he got to learn about the role of wholesale markets, especially seafood markets, in international trade, and had a preliminaryunderstanding of the sales of New Zealand seafood in China.
